A Guide to Adland Learning Guides multimedia approach
Yes, multimedia in a book ...
Throughout the Learning Guides you may find QR codes (short for Quick Response Code). These codes provide you with a fast way to access additional information about the topic in the book using your smart Android or Apple phone or tablet. The QR codes will link you to videos, audios, photos and web-sites. To use the QR codes you will need to download a small app onto your phone or tablet. You then use the app to scan the QR code. Some apps are free and often have advertisements included. Some apps have a cost of a few dollars, usually with additional features and no advertising. The choice is yours. Do a search for “QR code reader” on ITunes or Android app stores, read the reviews and if it looks good “install” the app onto your phone or tablet. (You can always uninstall and try another if it doesn’t work as well as you would like – that’s what I do!). Enjoy the new dimension of the Adland Learning Guides.

Notes for students, teachers and supervisors
The learning guides are important. They are a record book:
• to fill in as you go and • as evidence that you have completed the required Activities. Therefore, you should: • put your name and other details in the space provided • keep it in a safe place, • try to complete all Activities marked with the "Action" symbol • set up a folder in which you store the Learning guide and other information such as class notes, diagrams, supervisor comments, photographs, journal articles, etc. Watch out for other symbols that will help guide your learning. What do you need? To become competent, you must be able to apply and demonstrate your skills and knowledge in a workplace setting. Therefore, you need a workplace - a place where you can carry out the Activities contained in the Learning guide. This may be a real business or a school/college based workplace or simulated workplace. So, depending on the particular Activity you may need to access to a range of soils, plant materials, sites, equipment and facilities so that you can do the various tasks. Be aware that it is OK to use more than one workplace to carry out the Activities. So, you may do different activities in different workplaces. Back to Adland Home |
